Yoga in the Tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar

“Yogic practices develop the body to the level of the vibrant mind so that the body and the mind, having both become vibrant, are drawn towards the light of the soul.”
B.K.S. Iyengar

Yoga is a physical and mental discipline to bring strength, coordination and flexibility to the body. The various bodily functions, including respiration, digestion, elimination and circulation, can improve as well as the muscular skeletal frame with the practice of yoga. The Iyengar method of astanga yoga introduces the shapes and actions of the classical asanas (postures) and pranayamas (yogic breathing) in an orderly and progressive sequence. All may benefit from yoga studies regardless of age or stiffness. The asanas can be adapted to meet the physical needs of each student. Consistent practice of asana and pranayama promotes a sense of well-being, focus and balance in all aspects of life.

Class attire is bare feet, shorts or footless tights and tee shirt. No perfume. No heavy jewelry. Do not eat a meal two hours prior to doing yoga. Do not come to class if you have a contagious condition. Please be on time. Class begins promptly at the published class time.

Workshop events will be announced in separate flyers for specialty topics, visiting teachers, beginning and advanced levels.
