Independence Day Vedānta Course
July 4 @ 8:00 pm - July 7 @ 1:00 pm
Topic: Etat jñānam iti proktam (Bhagavad Gita 13.11)
In the preceding verses of this chapter, Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa has given Arjuna both the knowledge of who he is, and the inner disposition required to understand what has been taught. Both are considered knowledge, jñānam. In this course, Swamiji will teach in detail the various aspects of this inner disposition revealed in the verse. And also show why understanding and assimilating them is given the status of jñānam.
Topic: Śraddhābhaktidhyānayogād avehi (Kaivalyopaniṣad 2)
As for any knowledge, there are prerequisites for understanding the knowledge revealed in the Upaniṣads—that one is the nondual reality of all that is. Some requirements involve preparatory actions or behavior and some are purely internal, cognitive. It is these latter that are taught here by Brahmāji to the Rṣi Aśvalāyana. What are the cognitive shifts that will prepare a mind to receive the liberating knowledge of the Upaniṣads? These 3 deeply meaningful words are enough for the Rṣi Aśvalāyana coming from Brahmāji. In this course Swaminiji will elaborate on each of them, bringing clarity and insight to the listener.
