DESCRIPTION:
Nirvāṇa Ṣaṭkam – 1
In this famous set of verses attributed to Śrī Ādi Śaṅkarācārya, the author decidedly negates any and all characteristics and roles falsely attributed to the self, declaring at the end of each verse: cidānandarupaḥ śivo’ham śivo’ham — “I am that conscious being, complete, existence itself!” Swamiji will unfold each verse in all its glory.
Vivekacūḍāmaṇi, verse 3
This verse in the famous text by Śrī Ādi Śaṅkarācārya speaks of three rare blessings:
manuṣyatva, a human birth,
mumukṣutva, clarity regarding need to seek freedom from saṁsāra,
and mahāpuruṣasamśraya, finding a qualified teacher to learn self-knowledge, the key to this freedom.
Swaminiji will discuss how these three blessings play out in the life of a seeker.
